About the Artist:
I was born in Thailand. I came to Australia in 1974 and joined the Public Service in 1978. I later studied at the Uni of Canberra and gained a Degree in Administration.
In 2001 I resigned from my job to accompany my husband working overseas on business.
While staying in hotels with beautiful gardens, I experimented with watercolours by painting exotic plants. I fell in love with the medium. When I returned to Canberra, I enrolled in watercolour techniques classes at the ANU School of Art.
By 2004, I developed a passion for painting flowers in fine detail. I then decided to focus on botanical painting and have attended numerous botanical art workshops.
Since 2005 I have exhibited in numerous group exhibitions including the Royal Horticultural Society in London. In 2013 and 2014 I was awarded RHS Silver Gilt medals.
I have taught botanical painting at the Canberra Institute of Botanical Art, the Canberra Institute of Technology and privately.
My style has been to focus on the application of dry brush techniques to render finely detailed paintings that display a velvety appearance.
My work is represented in private and public collections.
